Crash, Bang, Wallop!

Sorry this has been a long time coming, but to be fair there isn't to much to report. We got taken out at the first corner at Oulton Park, see the video here.
A big thank you must go out to Simon Gardner and Darren Tritten, who have lent and mad us bits to enable us to be out there racing at the next round at Cadwell in a weeks time. Cheers guys!!!

British summer time!?

Cadwell Park race reports now online. Very similar weather to Snetterton, wet, dry, wet, dry,..... The event will be shown on Motors TV on Thursday 10th June at 21:15.

2010 is GO!!!

The season got underway at Pembrey circuit in Wales, with great weather and new challenges for the team, see the Results/Pics page for full details of the first round. TV time will be Thursday 29th April at 21.15 on Motors TV. Sky 413 or Virgin 545.

New Sponsors for 2010

We are proud to announce that we have gained some new sponsors in addition to those that helped us out last year and we would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to Rainham Industrial Services, Cross's Design and Craft and  Racing Line Photography for their support!  (If you use them, don't forget to mention Team Highside Racing!) And don't forget we still need more support!

The 2010 Season is nearly here...

The new season starts at Pembrey in Wales over the weekend of the 10th-11th of April. The bike has been stripped refreshed and rebuilt and is ready to go, Erol has been training hard over the winter and has a pre-season test booked to give everything the once over. We have a really good chance of winning the championship this year, IF, we have enough funds to complete the whole season. At present we don't, but hope we can pick up some sponsorship throughout the year to complete the whole season and lift that championship winners trophy! So anyone looking to sponsor a two time champion looking to pick up his third title, PLEASE get in touch, either through email erol@teamhighsideracing.co.uk or phone 07904835774. Oh and for those of you that are superstitious Erol has his double championship winning number 23 back!

Well no, to be honest. Erol had some bad luck, but did manage to secure 3rd place in the final championship standings. See results page for details!

More silverware brought home from Wales!

The team made the long six hour drive to Anglesey for the next round of the Thundersport GB superstock 600 championship. The track was great as was the weather, see how thy got on in the results page.

Erol will be racing at the Dave Holland Festival!!!

The meeting is in memory of the late Dave Holland and will be held at Cadwell Park on the 3rd October. Erol would like to put on a good show for his sponsors, so if anyone could help him out with a contribution towards a set of tyres for the meeting please get in touch!

Erol had a dodgy start to the week end with a little off on the test day at Snetterton, but made up for it in the races! Front row starts, a brolly dolly and a 2nd place, move him up to 3rd in the championship standings. Check out the results page for a full report and pictures!

The season has started! Woo Hoo!

Testing times, well not really...

Erol finally managed to get out on the bike at Brands hatch on possibly the best day we have had so far this year. It was a very productive day. With tyres and suspension to test and set up, Erol had a very important job on his hands to get a good base set up for the start of the season.

The day went well and we achieved what we set out to. So thanks to Simon and Jez, for their help, Colin and Diane at 100% suspension.

Also Special thanks to John Rumley for the paint job, I'm sure you'll agree it looks great (just need to get those sponsors stickers on there!) and to Anni from Little Devil Studios for the photos. Enjoy!!!

2009 Plans???

With next year already in the mind of all team members, things are moving along trying to sort out things for next year. We have decided to race in the Thundersport GB superstock 600 championship.

Thundersport GB is a new and a very up and coming club gaining a very good reputation by all who raced with them in 2008. They have very fast and talented rider racing with them and the added bonus of television coverage.

The bike we will be running is an ex British Superstock R6, run in the 2008 national championship. We are hoping to help Erol gain a 3rd title in a row in 2009 so watch this space!!!

We already have a number of sponsors lined up for next year, but we are always on the lookout for more. If you think you can help us please see the sponsorship page and get in touch.

Below is an article written by Bike Sport News club race editor Robin Murphy about Erol and Team Highside Racing.

"So the 2008 racing season draws to a close, and now the thoughts, dreams and energies of most riders are turning to 2009. What to ride, which clubs to ride with, what championships to compete in?

One such is Erol Ahmet.

Most riders would be happy to have his racing CV – he was New Era’s Honda Hornet Superclub Champion of 2007, and this year won the Derby Phoenix Pre-Injection 600 Championship.

But Erol has unbounded ambition, and is already setting in motion plans for next year. After much thought and discussion, and many test rides, Erol has settled on his weapon of choice for 2009 – the British Superstock Yamaha R6, campaigned this year by Ryan Tyers.

Erol is fully aware that the further up the racing ladder he gets, the tougher the competition will be, but he’s determined that the new machine will maintain his winning momentum, and he’s got his sights set on a third championship victory to add to his already outstanding race history.

So, the bike is sorted, and now it’s getting near decision time as to which series to enter.

"With a couple of excellent clubs, running great series, my choice for next year will be a tricky one. We’ll be looking for television coverage, which is always a great help and a reward for sponsors," said Ahmet. ‘And I’ll also be looking to enjoy myself, being tested against the best riders around at that level."

Erol, like most talented young riders, is now on the hunt for sponsors. His fiancée, Lucy, knows how tough it is to put together a racing budget. "We keep a strict eye on costs," she says. "you have to, to succeed in racing. We have a great network of friends who help and support us, but any amount of sponsorship can make all the difference. A £1000 or a £100, it’s always greatly appreciated, and here at Team Highside Racing, we offer sponsors free tickets and hospitality and all sorts of other advertising benefits."

At this time of year there are a lot of serious prospects for success in 2009, all competing for sponsorship, but I reckon there could be some clever money on Erol – he’s contactable direct on erol@teamhighsideracing.co.uk, or 07904835774."
